Oxford Sale seen a positive by Churchill Downs Shareholders
Shares of Churchill Downs (CHDN) rose a cumulative 4% in the first two trading sessions of the trading week. The diversified horse racing, casino and entertainment company, best known from the "Kentucky Derby", announced the acquisition of Oxford Casino on Friday after the market close. Interestingly enough, Oxford Casino has only opened its operations in June of last year, so limited financial information has been available. The 25,000 square foot gaming floor holds 790 Class III slot machines and 22 table games, as well as a 140-seat restaurant, among others.

Hollywood Casino Hotel & Raceway has hired an additional 12 people as a result of the expansion of one of its newest table games.
The casino is expanding the hours that guests can play craps, a game the casino has offered since December in which patrons bet money on the results of a dice roll, due to its popularity, according to a news release. “This is a direct reflection of the feedback we have received from our customers,” John Osborne, the casino’s general manager, said in a statement. “Customer demand brought us craps late last year, and it has been such a popular game that we are expanding its hours, which is also allowing us to hire new employees.”
Craps is one of 16 table games at the casino, including poker, blackjack, roulette and three-card poker.
